But the glossy graphics actually hurt the game to the point where it's flat out hard to see pieces and squares. In the Musei Capitali environment, a full quarter of the board is obscured by artificial glare.

The Gomorrah level is also problematic, with squares that are hard to see. Graphics are the selling point, I know, but a 2D option for board and pieces would be welcome.

You can only change the 3d view with right stick, but you can't set any of them as a default, so you'd always need to hold stick if you prefer a different view. Spent their efforts on pretty backgrounds with annoying sound effects like a cell phone buzzing. On the other hand, its 12 bucks, and has cross platform play.

Didnt notice any move take back option vs cpu. No learning aids except showing legal moves. Most disappointing to me is the lack of 2d boards. The clock is unreadable. Good luck finding another player beaides a friend (Blitz Mode). One of the songs that plays has a time ticker in it, which is so annoying. You cannot save a game if one of you has to leave. You cannot place pieces to setup a scenario.

I wish i could have played a demo first, because I would not have purchased this game. Submitted on 3/27/2018 Review title of Flint JOEChess Average not Chess UltraThere are some things I like in Chess Ultra that are better than Pure Chess. Like the Chronos chess clock in the modern flat apt. Wish that clock was used in every background. I liked having more options for material choices for pieces in CU compaired to PC. However I think that PC has better looking boards and backgrounds than CU does. The museum level is the worst one in CU for Black.

The glare on the board is bad. Really bad lighting effects on that board. VR is a cool option to have but could use more than the Grim Reaper.

Like models of real life GM's like Judit Polgar and Magnus Carlsen. If Ripstone could have taken the best from both PC and CU. It would have been a much better game. Would have loved to have seen the Reykjavik set in the game. The set used in the 1972 Fischer vs Spassky match.
