Darksiders Warmastered Edition Cutscenes

I guarantee it's not the cutscenes themselves that are the problem, because when I play them using an external media player (VLC) all the audio levels sound just as they should. It's only the in-game video player that causes the audio levels to be off. And it's only a problem for the Warmastered Edition. They sound fine in the original. I found a possible workaround for unbalanced audio issue in cutscenes. I'm not sure if the problem affects all users with 2.0/2.1 speakers but it's probably safe to say that some are affected, me included. The workaround basically amplifies video volume beyond what's allowed in settings.EditIf the workaround isn't. Working for you, I've since gone nuclear and reencoded all videos into 2-channel configuration. You can grab them here (torrent) - magnet:?xt=urn:btih:F2053418E74CB62F6BC8A0471D3445Steps.

Go to '%APPDATA%kaikodarksiders1' (you can copy-paste this address into Windows Explorer). Open 'config.ini' file. Under audio section change 'videovolume' to above 100. I'd start with 200. Personally I use 350, beyond which I start getting heavy distortion.

Save the file and set it to read-only (not required but it prevents the game from resetting the config file itself, even if it's futile (see caveats)). Once you have done this, you must not at any point enter the settings menu in-game (see caveats).Caveats. Boosting sound level above their original value will always result in clipping (distortion). You may have to experiment a little to find the best balance for your setup. Turning down the volume for other audio (voice, effects, bgm) to e.g.

20 while leaving video volume at 100 doesn't work since apparently cutscenes uses video volume for voice. The videos are still running with 6 channels, and the other 3 channels are still missing (4 if you don't have a sub) so they're still a little jarring. Entering settings menu in-game will reset video volume back to 100, even if you set the config file to read-only. Restarting the game will set it back to the value in config file if it's set to read-only.Some other observationsIn some cutscenes it appears that the audio channel is switched between left and right for some sounds. Observed in Vulgrim introduction scene. Lost echo download latest version.

Checking a few other random videos, they don't seem to suffer the same problem so it could be just an outlier or two.My setup:Windows 10 x64VIA HD integrated sound card. Black mesa download google drive.

It really depends on your system. If your system can decode the videos fast enough even with software decoding, they will stll look perfectly smooth and play at 60 FPS.

If, however, the system can't handle the videos, they will drop frames, stutter or even get out-of-sync. Adding hardware decoding should hopefully improve this for a lot of people by moving the major part of decoding to the GPU, which should do a way better job at this. The caveat is that your GPU needs to actually support hardware decoding on WMV files for this to work, though I'm not sure if there is any GPU suitable for the game which doesn't support this decoder at all. Ideally, the game would still use software decoding as a fallback. Originally posted by:It really depends on your system. How was the initial D1 handling these? The fix I did for the cutscenes for the original version were to just resize them. I found that the videos were at such a high res that they would lag behind the sound but sizing them down made them play perfectly fine, just had a black border around the outside which did not bother me.Edit:Maybe if nothing else the dev's could supply a seperate file for those having problems with cutscene's stuttering where they could dl resized cutscenes in their aspect ratio and just place them where they belong.

I've tried to replace those videos from the original game - were stuttering even worse. Though I had no any problems with the cutscenes in the original game. I hope they'll fix it soon, don't want to mess around using tools to resize/kill quality etc.
